S.O.S. Save Our Starbucks
The Galesburg, IL Starbucks (store #11791) is one of the 616 Starbucks across the nation scheduled to close by March of 2009. While we understand Starbucks needs to close underperforming stores to better position itself financially, we feel our Henderson Street Starbucks has not been given a chance to show its true operational excellence on paper.
Since the new management came into the store in December (a mere four months after it opened), the store feels like a completely different Starbucks. The monthly coffee seminars, the friendly (and often quite funny) conversations in the cafй and the drive thru, and the knowledgeable staff make this a top-notch establishment. Have you seen the employee bulletin board or the hilarious picture book on the counter where you pick up your drink?? This is just the kind of store Starbucks needs to improve its Customer Service image, and just the kind of business Galesburg needs to draw more people off of our two intersecting interstates and into town. One well-placed billboard along the interstate would do wonders for this stores traffic, and wireless internet access would keep our college students and visiting business patrons from going down the street to McDonalds or Dairy Queen for their free wi-fi.
In short, give our Starbucks a chance to succeed. They have the staff to make it happen. They have us, the community, behind them. All they need is a little more time to prove it.
This petition is in addition to the one another customer has left in the store; if you have signed that petition, please refrain from signing this one and vice versa. We know the sheer number of people who want this store to be given a chance will speak for itself without being falsely inflated.

I live 15 miles away and make trips to Galesburg several times per week. Stopping at Starbucks has become a ritual for my kids and I before we head back to Monmouth. Please don't take those opportunities away from us.
