This Board will consist of nine members; five will be from private business, two from government quangos, one from the City Council and one from the County Council. The Chairperson from private business will have the casting vote. This is handing over our city to those whose only interest is in making a large profit.
- Who will The Board be accountable to?
- What happens if they do not deliver?
- What is there to prevent the business developers giving themselves or each other lucrative contracts?
As a longer term measure and to help fund the Renaissance, the City Council is also proposing to set up a Local Asset Vehicle. This will be a public-private partnership, ostensibly to manage the Citys property.
What safeguards will be in place to stop the best of the City Councils assets (our ratepayers assets) being stripped by private investors?
If you are concerned about the above, and would like a public enquiry into the future governance of Carlisle Renaissance please turn up on the 4th February or write to the local paper letting them know your concerns.
