We are hoping to raise awareness and stop proposals to change the current structure of Children's Centres across Hampshire.
The consultation offered by Hampshire County Council has been carried out quickly and quietly without those affected by the changes having their views heard.
Our voices in local government - the councillors we have voted into positions of power to represent us - have voted against investment into this invalauble service that benefits a whole future generation - without it parents, children and the local community will suffer.
It is time we made our views heard on this and other issues we care about.
We, the undersigned, petition that all SureStart Centres in Hampshire should continue to be run as they are at present with NO changes to the way services are delivered.
We are opposed to the proposed mergers and the cluster management arrangements. Government guidance is clear that Children’s Centres should ‘revert to their original purpose,’ focusing on those within the community who are most in need.
We feel that ANY family could be 'in need' at any time, as ANYONE can suffer postnatal depression, domestic violence, have children with Special Educational Needs, etc.
Surestart Centres need to be locally run by local management teams who really know their catchment and the requirements of the local community with ALL services remaining free at point of access.
