SAVE OUR TEACHERS! SAVE OUR FUTURE!

PLEASE READ AND CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY. WE NEED YOU TO HELP SAVE OUR TEACHERS! On the night of 3-23-11, the school board of School District 300 made the decision to cut 363 teachers, and put them out of work. Only a small percent of these could be rehired next year. And do we want this? NO! Our teachers, no matter what class, or how long they've been teaching, make a difference in our lives, and we want them to know that! Even though they all say that they appreciate our efforts so far with recent protests, they also say we cant change the decision. They're wrong! As a student in District 300, I can say that I truly think we can make a difference and save our teachers if we just band together! Protesting to our principals may be wrong, as they didn't make the decision. But no one said we couldn't protest to the board itself! By getting enough signatures, we may be able to make a difference. Did you know that at the meeting, the board only gave attending students and teachers 60 seconds to voice their opinion? And as soon as the last person spoke, the vote was cast without them even pausing to consider what everyone had said. And as we know they chose the cruel and depressing option 3: Lay off 363 teachers. Why is this happening? Budgets. They cant afford to pay all these teachers. But, and this is a true fact, the board members themselves make $100,000 PLUS every year! Maybe if we cut there salary even SLIGHTLY our teachers would have a better chance at staying. Anyway, the point is, we need to support our teachers and try to help them no matter what they say! PLEASE SIGN! IF WE GET ENOUGH NAMES WE MAY BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE BOARDS MIND AND HELP SECURE OUR TEACHERS JOBS! If you hadn't gathered, we ARE planning one sending this to the D300 Board.
