WE DEMAND FOR MORE POLICING OF THE LOCALITY AND GARDAI SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS.
Limerick City's Steam Boat Quay has become a hot spot of illegal drinking, drug consumption, robberies and violent attacks.
It is home to the City's first ever skatepark, and the prestigious Clarion hotel, and what message does the city give to the tourists and residents of the Clarion, who fear for their own well-being, and have even been afraid to come and go from the hotel's premises.
Businesses in the locality are sick of facing the litter of drug paraphernalia, empty beer cans and broken glass outside their door step literally every day. In some cases, businesses have even had to face the fact that someone had defecated at their business entrance.
Limerick's Mount Kenneth Skatepark is used everyday by enthusiast both young and old, but it is happening far too often that the park's patrons are afraid to use the premises as they fear for their own safety and the safety of their belongings.
Henry Street Garda Station is literally a 5 minute walk from Steamboat Quay, and all crimes to date have been reported to the Gardaн Sнochana, but to date no improvement of safety can be seen.
These issues were brought to light last year at an emergency meeting with all of Steamboat Quay's business owners, City officials, Gardaн Sнochana officials, the City Mayor, local politicians and representatives from the Limerick's skateboarding community. Action and more policing of the area was promised by all authorities but the situation remains the same.
WE NEED TO SEE RESULTS. SAVE STEAMBOAT QUAY FROM CRIME.
