The BBC recently dismissed an employee (Mr. Steve Jones) with 20 years of good standing after it became apparent that he was also a spokesperson for the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club. Never in his 20 years of service to the BBC did he let his membership of Hells Angels affect his ability as journalist and after the BBC carried out an investigation into Mr. Joness membership of the club they unfairly dismissed him. We find this not only unfair but openly proves the BBCs treatment of employees demonstrates double standards (refer to the case of Jonathon Ross and Russell Brand). If you wholeheartedly agree with the following statement please sign the petition which will be sent to the BBC.
We the undersigned believe that the BBC should reinstate Steve Jones to his former position at the BBC. We believe that being a member of any form of club should not affect the way a person carries out his job and Mr. Jones has demonstrated that his membership of a motorcycle club has never affected his standard of work and, when representing the BBC he has always remained unbiased in his views. As license payers that enjoy Mr. Joness work we ask that the BBC reinstate him and issue an apology to Mr. Jones and his family.
