The College Of West Anglia (also commonly known as Kings Lynn College) is proposing to move Wisbech's Musical Theatre (Performing Arts) course to Kings Lynn, as they need to save 3 million pounds. This is also with the idea that Kings Lynn college has "more space".
This could potentially see the end of Nine Lives Theatre Company, the company founded by Paul Mayer seventeen years ago. This college course is not just your average college course, it's a company, a family that most of us has had the good fortune to be a part of. The tutors are supportive, and actually care, not too mention the lives I have seen change on this course. It doesn't just deal in performing arts, it helps confidence and gives students life skills that compulsory education no longer gives. Not to mention it's the only course that makes you part of a theatre company (which looks better on CV's) and gives you real experience, in a professional working theatre.
If the these proposals are happening all through Isle College, there may no longer be a college in Wisbech, which would be dire for the town. Not to mention the effect on The Angles Theatre, this could cause this historical theatre to be closed, which would be taking another wonderful thing from Wisbech.
