We, the fans of the classic comic book franchises that we grew up with, are just as much a part of the fantasy worlds Stan Lee and other Marvel greats created as the studios and companies that have bought them up. Sony, owning the rights to the Spiderman movie license, has financed three phenomenal films that exceeded many of our expectations and have built a fantastic chemistry between well-developed, multi-dimensional characters that many of us have grown to love. Now they will be scrapping this iteration of the series in favor of a "grittier, more youth-oriented" reboot as part of a business move to save costs. The production of Spiderman 4 was cancelled because of the failure to meet deadlines. Sam Raimi and the script writers felt that if rushed to meet the release date, they would risk creative integrity and end up with than a less-than-worthy product. This move is only to take advantage of the license in the most profitable way and cancels a movie a lot of us we were waiting eagerly to see. We, the undersigned, don't want to see the series start over. We don't want to get to know new versions of the characters. We don't want to pay MORE to see the same storylines in 3D. Sam Raimi and his cast and crew have created an immersive and familiar world and we want to see that story continue. Spiderman has never been dark or gritty. It has always had a good sense of humor and never taken itself too seriously. We demand to see Sony revoke their decision to cancel this great series of films and postpone the "reboot" until it is has actually been a reasonable amount of time.
