Save Trees to keep McKinney "Unique by Nature"

We the undersigned residents of McKinney urge the Mayor and City Council of McKinney Texas to be diligent in the management of future development of our community, ensuring that large native trees are preserved for future generations in keeping with the Councils 2010 goal to make McKinney cleaner and greener.
Mature native trees clean our air, water and soil. Large trees sequester 60-70 times the pollution of a small tree according to scientific studies. Trees and plants benefit the health and well being of our citizenry and improve the quality of life of the children and adults in the community.
We respectfully request that as future roads and developments are planned that saving the native trees in and around McKinney be of highest priority so that decades from now McKinney will still be able to say that the city is Unique by Nature. We include in this request the current consideration of the FM 543 Connector from FM 1461 / CR 166 east to Interstate 75, specifically that the northern boundary of the road Right Of Way be placed no further North than the southern boundary of the Geren Trail Neighborhood.
