My 4 pound Chihuahua, Sawyer, was viciously murdered by a pitbull on Saturday, October 15th, 2011. According to the police report, it was a "dispute" between the owners, even though the officer was told exactly what happened. They still deemed it as a dispute, not an attack and certainly not a murder.
A murder is a murder, and it shouldn't matter if the victim was human or animal.
As of now our pets are considered "Property", as if they are a table or a chair. Our pets are our family. They are living, breathing, individuals and their murder, whether by another dog or a human, should be deemed as such.
Our pets should NOT be classified as property. They should be classified as living beings.
I want to create a law that classifies our pets as living beings, NOT property and I want the law to state that if they are murdered by a human or another animal that it IS murder.
And I want this law to be called SAWYER'S LAW, in memory of my beloved longhair Chihuahua who was murdered by a pitbull.

i am Sawyer's aunt and yes a murder is murder wether by animal or human. this pitbull is vicious as has been known to go after childern and other animals. would we have to be signing a petiton for a law if it was a child that the pitbull murdered? i thino
