Say no to Digital TV, force the FCC to have TV stations broadcast in Analog

Well, First off, DTV as it's called is not tested over the long haul like Analog has been, We know for a fact that analog works both through rough weather, Over long periods of time, Or with lots of connection accessing it, Not to mention interference from other sources.. We also know that the analog TV's signal doesn't cause any health defects to humans or animals. We know analog works under these conditions, Why? Because it has been tested for a long time, Longer than Digital TV has been around.

Where as with digital, We don't know what to expect, How long has it been around? Has it been 18 years? Or less? Over those 18 years, It has really only been tested on a large scale for the last two years or so... Thats hardly tested over the long run!, We need to test it for longer before we can assume it's a: Reliable and safe (For people the environment and computer equipment) or b: Replace analog with it!

But DTV is more reliable right?! They say it is!; At the moment yes.... But you have to figure these circumstances have not been looked into:

1: Does the signal cause problems with other mediums?, EX:Computers, Cellphones ETC.
A:We don't know yet if a large scale broadcast of digital TV signals can cause enough Digital Noise to disrupt computer mid thinking process... But, It's certainly a viable threat in theory!

2:Can the signal be linked to health conditions?
A:It's still too soon to say! Recent evidence suggests it takes about 50 years for us to really see the effects of anything on our physical health. (Whether it's hormones in our food, Certain pesticides on us or the environment) The point is the DTV signal has not been broadcast for long enough for us it's physically safe. At least not from medical science's point of view.

3:what about the signal strength? Signal strength is a combination of factors put together; Approximate distance from the source to the TV, Any large objects or signal producers or factories in-between locations, Angle of the signal, And power of the signal.
A:Analog started off with a good signal just as digital is now, But as time went on the TV companies realized they could cut costs by not building new antenna towers where they were needed and by reducing the amount of power put into the signal.

This means that DTV's current signal strength is merely a ruse; They are pumping extra strength into it make it seem better than analog (While leaving analog at it's former or less signal strength causing the digital signal to disrupt the analog one making it seem ever worse). When analog is gone, They will limit the power they are putting into DTV's signal causing it to be unreliable and just as bad as current reception.

4: Does it work in rough weather?
A: If they keep the signal strength up it might have a chance, But if they limit the signal strength it will be just as shaky as the current analog signal is during rough weather.

5:Does it work for large groups of people?
A:Only half of the USA is accessing DTV at the moment, Which accounts for some of it's good signal quality, This means if the rest of us were to access it, It would divide the current signal strength in half to cope, This means a bad signal for everyone......

6:Does it work for long periods of time?
A: We don't know..., It's only been around for short while, Who knows what will happen with it, It could prove to be the hardware at the TV stations, That because it's so new and fragile breaks too often, Causing said stations to become non-free channels to compromise for the costs, That would mean no more free TV...

It could also be that the signal will degrade over time, Causing it to be even worse than analog... Due to the Digital Cliff Effect http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_television#Effects_of_poor_reception

The fact is, WE DON'T KNOW. It hasn't been around long enough and hasn't been tested well enough to negate the above worries.

7:Cost; Even with the $40 coupons, Some of us can't afford the DTV converter, And the DTV's them selves are far too expensive for our budget! That fact is FCC, If you wan to make it mandatory for us to switch to digital you can pay the whole bill!!! I'm not paying a cent for your mandatory crap!!

So, If the FCC wants all of us to have this digital TV, No matter what, I say we tell them no, And don't let them boss us around, Instead, We will sign this petition to force them to broadcast in the Reliable, Well known, Tested, Safe and free form of television called Analog TV!

So sign this petition negating the switch to digital by forcing the FCC to leave the TV stations to broadcast in analog only, And boost it's signal power (strength) to make it even more reliable.

Please sign this petition! We don't need digital TV! And if all the above is true it could end up forcing anyone who wants to watch TV to buy into a service!!!!!! A service we can't afford, And shouldn't have to!
