We the undersigned ask that you please reconsider and reject proposals pending before the General Assembly to repeal the sales tax exemption on the trade-in value of a car used as a down payment, the 3\% additional sales tax on higher priced cars and trucks and the coupon tax on the sale price of a car or truck.
These new taxes will raise the cost for consumers to purchase and finance autos, it will depress the in-state Automotive retail business dramatically, jeopardize hundreds of jobs and reduce, not raise, additional sales tax revenue to the state. Taxes in this state are out of control already. The income tax was supposed to help, then promises that the casinos would as well. Time for fiscal responsibility but not by adding more of the burden on the tax payers.
