We the undersigned object to the proposed catchment review as detailed above.
WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT :
1. This is against our parental choice rights laid out by the parents charter.
2. Children have the right to remain in a school within their local community.
3. Children should be educated with their siblings and peers and should follow suit to high school.
4. Splitting siblings and peers will be extremely confusing, upsetting and unsettling for the children, potentially affecting confidence and education.
5. Hallside Primary should not service the children of Drumsagard only.
WE ARE CONCERNED THAT :
1. No parent's or children's opinions were sought before the proposed decision was made.
2. Children will have to walk approx 2 miles to school various major roads.
3. The route from Westburn and Halfway to Cambuslang is unsafe for children to walk school.
4. Potential for siblings to be attending different primary and high schools.
5. Practicalities e.g child care issues, after school clubs, transport arrangements (potentially dropping off of children at different locations).
6. No direct pubic transport services from areas of Westburn and Halfway to Cambuslang and Rutherglen.
7. Children from 3 primary schools in Cambuslang will have to attend a high school in Rutherglen.
8. Should this proposal be accepted then our local community will be split..
