The New Zealander film maker Peter Jackson has bought the rights to remake the classic war film "The Dam Busters". The origonal film was a classic and there is no need for a re-make. The only time a film should ever be re made is if it does not reach its full potential, which I feel, (as do the people who have signed this petition) "The Dam Busters" did. Many of the cast of the origonal film where involved in world war II, noteably Richard Todd (who played Wing Commander Guy Gibson in the origonal) served as an officer and paratrooper in the British 6th Airborne Division. Todd himself when talking about the film said he found the final scene hard to play as he, himself knew what it was like to have to write a letter home to the familys of men missing in combat, any new actors cast for the Remake will not be able to reach this quality of emotion in their acting, as todds was real, and not just acted.
Please note i do not mean any dis respect to Mr Jackson, i just feel that "The Dam Busters" should not be made.
