Back in 2006 Winz bought out Working for families and with this they changed " Special Benefit" to "Temporary Additional Support" (TAS) bringing along with it a computer program that calculates how much an applicant can receive.
When your finacial details are entered into the pogram it automatically deducts $23.81 from your accommodation costs which literally puts your rent or morgage up by that amount.
When the Regulations were written for TAS they show what they will pay for under essential costs but because of the deduction you will not get the amount stated therefore making the Regulations invalid.
You do not have to be on a benefit for this to affect you, you may have someone with a disability that need TAS to help pay for it or you may be low income and receiving accommodation supplement or you could be studying and receiving Student allowance which if you are oaying accommodation costs this will affect you.
This petition is for the purposes of changing the computer program to be in line with the Regulations as The Government is choosing to ignore this issue.
