Ross Taylor has led NZ to incredible Test victories in Australia and Sri Lanka in the last 12 months. He averages 43 in Test cricket, but this rises to 49.85 since he has been the captain. In ODIs it's the same story: an average of 47 with the captaincy compared to 38 overall.
Now his place as captain is being questioned by NZ's coach who favours his Otago colleague Brendon McCullum.
We believe that taking the captaincy off Ross Taylor would be a dreadful mistake and that he is far more valuable to the Black Caps than either Brendon McCullum or Mike Hesson.
