We the undersigned are strong supporters of Peace and Human Rights across the Globe.
Increasingly, in recent years it has become glaringly apparent that the Global perception of Koreans has been deteriorating rapidly; the Los Angeles Riots, ratcheted up vitriol by Kim Jong Il and the Bush White House, and the recent murders at Virginia Tech having been some of the causal factors.
Korean Americans are unable to actively participate in the American dream because of traditions, stigmas, and racial stereotypes which pervade American Society.
Last Year, Korean Reggae Recording artist, Sung Jin Cho aka SKULL reached #3 on The Billboard Charts with the full support of a non Korean fan base which was largely African American and Caribbean. At a time when tensions run very high between Korean Americans and African Americans, the achievement of this historic milestone has the potential to reverse so much of the negative publicity and animus which Koreans face.
It is with this in mid that we respectfully request that you reconsider requiring Skull's conscription in The Korean Army. His continued presence in the Global Pop Culture contributes volumes to World Peace unity, and improving the image of South Korea globally, providing a positive role model and source of self esteem for Korean youth around the world.
