To: The Mayor & Council of the City Of Kenora
The City Of Kenora is currently under economic strain due to the recent closure of the Abitibi Paper Mill. This situation has forced our economy to diversify & strengthen itself in other sectors. One sector which needs strengthening is Winter Tourism.
Sno-X is the premiere annual winter event within the City Of Kenora. This great event has been put on by a host of dedicated volunteers who have given a lot of time & effort in order to make it successful. Sno-X brings not only tourism money to our city through the hospitality industry, it also puts Kenora on the map as a winter destination.
Recently, some concerns regarding the location of this event have been brought forth before council. A proposal has been put forth during Councils discussions regarding this issue, to move this event from the Kenora Recreation Centre. This is a major decision that must be not be made lightly.
The undersigned do not support moving Sno-X from the Kenora Recreation Centre & would like the Council Of The City Of Kenora to put forth a motion supporting this important winter event.
