Staffordshire Commons special assessment

We take issue with the manner in which the meeting held on that date was scheduled, promoted and conducted. Nowhere in the promotional materials mailed out ahead of this meeting was it stated in plain English that a vote would be taking place to raise the monthly fees by a specific dollar amount. Unit owners unable attend the meeting were left with the options of not voting at all, or committing in advance (via proxy) to a vote whose terms were not made clear ahead of time. We also demand to know why there was no opportunity to vote on whether to replace only the 38 decks in most serious need. We demand complete transparency from both the associations board of directors, and from our property management company.
We feel that the vote of 22-14 does not accurately represent the feelings of the community as a whole, reflecting less than 25\% of all 153 unit owners. Furthermore, since the vote did not pass by a two-thirds majority, we feel that all those opposed to the special assessment deserve a fair and equitable opportunity to appeal the decision and make their voices heard.
