Whereas the First World War was a significant and monumental event in the history and shaping of Canada as a nation,
And whereas more than sixty thousand Canadians gave their lives in the service of our country,
And whereas there are only three surviving veterans of that important time left in Canada
Therefore Be It Resolved that with the passing of the last First World War veteran that the Government of Canada hold a State Funeral to recognize and honour the individual and all those who fought and served for their country during this time.
