STOP ANIMAL TESTING LAB CONSTRUCTION IN MELAKA

Vivo Biotech has chosen to outsource this project to Asia, because Malaysia has few animal cruelty regulations. This means there is no guarantee for the welfare of the animal testing subjects. Do not allow Vivo Biotech to outsource cruelty for profit.
Owned by Indian company Vivo Bio Tech Ltd, the RM500 million facility is expected to use Malaysian long-tailed macauques and Beagles for testing purposes upon completion. Corporations that were based in countries with more stringent laws tend to set up their operations in countries where there was no applicable animal rights law. The current regulations related to animal welfare in the country, such as the 1953 Animal Ordinance, are simply outdated.
Testing on animals is still considered cruelty eventough the lab follows stringent rules. Among groups objecting to the laboratory are British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, European Coalition to End Animal Experiments and Selangor Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The lab had received state approval. The project is still in the planning phase. This petition must work and it is up to each and every one of us to stop this cruelty.
Please consider our plight against the costruction of the animal testing lab in Melaka, Malaysia. This country is a shining example how a multiracial and multicultural country should be and we can also be a shining example how animals should be treated.
