Stop Anti-Immigrant Legislation in Kansas

We agree that:
* Kansans come in all human colors and speak many languages. None of us should be targeted by police for this.
* A law that depends on suspicion of "illegal" status cannot be enforced equally without affecting some groups more than others.
* Protecting equality before the law is a higher priority for Kansas than usurping the federal role of enforcing migration status.
* The greatest harm of "illegal" status is suffered by the undocumented. The state of Kansas has nothing to gain by increasing this harm.
For these and other reasons, we call on our Kansas legislators to defeat any measure that sacrifices civil liberties in order to target immigrants. We will not follow Arizona on the path of legislating hate. We will resist any efforts by others to do so.
