STOP CIVILIAN DEATHS IN GAZA AT THE HANDS OF THE ISRAEL DEFENSE FORCES (IDF)

The signatories of this petition demand that the Canadian Government immediately stop providing diplomatic support to Israel concerning the air strikes being launched over Gaza. We also demand that the IDF's actions be condemned by the international community and that pressure be exerted on the Israeli government to stop these atrocities being committed on unarmed Palestinians.

As of July 11th 2014, the death toll  in Gaza (Palestine) has increased to over 105 people. This carnage has been the result of continuous air strikes and bombardments by the Israeli military over the past four days (since July 7th 2014). The IDF and the Israeli government claim that these methods have been employed to counter and halt rocket fire by Hamas operatives. However, the reality is that the majority of people killed by Israeli air strikes have been unarmed Palestinian civilians, many of whom were women and children.  Moreover, over 3000 homes in Gaza have been destroyed as a result of these attacks. Despite these facts, the Government of Canada has reiterated its unconditional support for the Israeli administration without uttering a single word of protest. Isael's actions are a direct violation of the United Nations Resolution 1674 as well as the Geneva Convention, both of which guarantee the protection of civilians in armed conflict.
