Fenland Distrci Council is currently consulting on their core strategy
Policy CS3 – Meeting Housing Need
On all housing development sites (whether as new-build or conversion), the Council will seek provision, through negotiation, of the following: (a) on sites up to 9 dwellings, the payment of a financial contribution to the Council, of broadly equivalent value to the provision of 20% affordable housing on site, to enable some housing need to be met elsewhere (unless the scheme provides affordable housing on site).
This will apply to the self builder as well as the developer & is surely against every principle the current government is proposing with their intention to encourage self building. This proposal will kill off most if not all small developments stone dead. Small builders, developers and local architects will be bankrupted and you can wave goodbye to any self builder thinking of Fenland. We need your signature to stop this lunacy now.
