Stop Killing the Dolphins

The deaths of four dolphins over the past two years is ample evidence of the zoos inability to properly care for these creatures.
We ask that the remaining two dolphins be returned to the area from which they were captured or, rehabilitated in a natural environment or, at the very least, placed in a natural setting in which they will be allowed to live the remainder of their lives free from human harassment and incompetence.
We further ask that the two surviving dolphins NOT be returned to Marine Animal Productions in Gulfport, Mississippi.
The most recent death, five-month old "Lily", may have been caused by the same infection Streptococcus zooepidemicus that played a role in the deaths of the other three dolphins. "Harley" died in June 2000 and "Sally" and "Turbo" died in 1998.
Though zoo officials point to the survival rate in dolphins born in captivity as part of the reason for Lilys death, the continued failure of the zoo to adequately protect these magnificent creatures should be considered criminal
It is time for the Oklahoma City Zoo to admit defeat and release the dolphins before any more are killed through incompetence, negligence or greed.
Please act now to protect these creatures and return them to the lives they deserve.
Sincerely,
