Stop Multiple-Voting System

Judging from the messages posted in Singapore Idol related online forums, the Singapore Idol show may be starting to lose it's credibility due to the voting formula that is currently in use. We would like to appeal to MediaCorp to stop the multiple-voting formula and put a limit to how many times people can vote from the same phone number. We believe that by allowing people to vote as many time as they can, the result does not reflect the real sentiment of the audience/public. If a contestant gets more votes than the other, it doesn't mean the majority had voted for him/her, but simply means that some, may be only a few, people spent more money on him/her. There has to be a way to limit the voting by checking on the phone number that was used for voting. We understand that we can't prevent those who want to use others' phone# to vote, but still there's only so many phone they'll have access too, so the limit will still be there.
Our objective is to stop the minority from manipulating the voting formula and swing the result to their favour. Please consider this for the sake of the credibility of the show. With one-vote-per-phone, we will respect the voting result and appreciate it as it is the voice of the public/majority, not just from a small group of people who are limited in number but virtually unlimited in voting power, well may be just limited by money and resources.
This multiple-voting formula may works in countries with huge population, but it can be manipulated in a small country like Singapore. If the voting policy is set by the franchisor, we believe that with good argument, the franchisor will be flexible on this as by maintaining the current system will affect the credibility of the show. During the finalist showdown, it may generate more income from the votes, but the end result may be undesireable: the winner may not have the approval of the public, and as the result, poor performance in terms of sales for any recording contract if it ever get materialized. This will also affect the enthusiasms of the people if there will ever be a Singapore Idol 2.
Lastly, if the practice that is mentioned above did not happen, revealing the voting statistic during result announcement show will also help to dismiss this suspicion, like how many unique votes each contestant received. For a start, even a simpler statistic like total number of votes may also help.
Please consider this. Thank you.
