PLEASE STOP fucking up sound quality!
If you don't know what's this all about, play Led Zeppelin - Stairway to heaven. Nice song, no clipping, no distorted sound, and it's not too loud. Want to hear it louder? That's where your volume button comes in handy.
Then, listen to -something- 'new'. Some music in the charts. Notice how LOUD it is? Those distortions you hear are not coming from you audio set. it's the recording. Back some years, we had a 'loudness race'. Your disk had to be the loudest in the jukebox,
otherwise your music was being 'disliked'. These days, the same applies for CD's. In the early years, producers prevented clipping and music was nicely recorded within good margins. Nowadays, it is NORMAL! to let CD's clip and distort! Above that, they're -way- too loud!
Where is the sense in fucking up Cd's? It will NOT be louder on the radio. The radio station compresses your music even further f*cking up the sound quality.
People with 'good' equipment (Read: not below 1000 dollars) can throw away their good equipment, since it doesn't matter anymore. Music nowadays is flat and lifeless. Back in the early years, you could easily tell the difference between pricey systems and a Yoko system. Now? It doesn't
matter. Overcompressed music even sound better in your car. But audiophiles don't want that. They pay good money for your recordings and they want -good- quality from it. Not some hypercompressed crap that is lifeless and dull. Where are the dynamics? Gone and unrecoverable.
So producers, could you -please- stop using Compressors too much? You have fucked up enough music already. RHCP - Californication is a great album, but it sounds like total pee. Even normal people hear distortions. I tought it was my radio, but it is the fucking recording. It's totally squashed. We do not want squashed music!
This is unacceptable. Many good music is not-so-good because of bad recording (hypercompressing). PLEASE stop insanely compressing those records. I wanna hear the bass guitar actually -playing-, not some computer-like bassline throughout the whole song. I wanna hear the kickdrum, not some muffled-away sound that's supposed to be a kickdrum. I wanna hear the synths, just not something muffled away for the sake of loudness. STOP hypercompressing and START making hearable and bearable albums again! Ever wonder why music sells so badly? It's not WORTH buying overcompressed crap! GIVE US BACK OUR DYNAMIC RANGE!
