Stop the RDNO's Proposal for Boating Restrictions on the Shuswap River!

            This petition believes that the Regional District of Northern Okanagan's (RDNO) proposal for boating restrictions on the Shuswap River has been poorly reasoned, poorly consulted with relevant communities and provides negligible benefit to the community whilst taking away a great deal. The rationale for banning motorized vessels from the Shuswap River is fallacious, illogical and unsupported by conclusive evidence. Additionally, the proposed restriction is destructive to the Regional District of Northern Okanagan's future, to its communities and for all Canadian's who wish to enjoy their property rights free from unjustifiable infringement by their local authorities.

          We, the undersigned, call for the government of the Regional District of Northern Okanagan to quash their unwarranted proposal for boating restrictions on the Shuswap River. Furthermore, we, the undersigned, petition Transport Canada to reject the proposed application for boating restrictions on the Shuswap River based the failure to fulfill the mandatory specific requirements outlined in the Cabinet Directive on Regulatory Management. We strongly request that both the RDNO and Transport Canada carry out their responsibilities correctly, strictly abide by Transport Canada's Local Authority Guide for Vessel Operation Restriction Regulations and in effect quash the application for boating restriction on the Shuswap River. We stand as concerned citizens in opposition to the oppressive and illegitimate restriction regime proposed by the RDNO.
