We - the undersigned citizens of London, St. Thomas and the area of South Western Ontario, the City of Toronto, the Province of Ontario and the Country of Canada - believe that the City of Toronto should be responsible for its own garbage. As such, it is morally and ethically wrong for the City of Toronto to purchase the Green Lane Environmental Landfill facility for the purpose of disposing its trash without the permission of residents of this area. We object to the idea that South Western Ontario will become Toronto's waste dump. It is an insult to the people of South Western Ontario that the Mayor of Toronto, its Councillors and the Province of Ontario have not pursued other options.
As such, We are asking Mayor David Miller and Councillors of the City of Toronto along with the relevant Ministers of the Province of Ontario to take responsibility for this issue and request that they reconsider this plan.
Finally, We are ashamed by the lack of action by our elected representatives to date and promise that We will make this a major election issue in upcoming municipal, provincial and federal elections if this issue cannot be resolved to our satisfaction.
