We the undersigned urge you to block the construction of massive sewer and water lines under the Ashley River to serve Watson Hill. We strongly oppose this misuse of tax-payer and rate-payer dollars to subsidize a destructive development project.
The extension of sewer and water to Watson Hill will allow harmful over-development of this important parcel. This will increase taxes for all Dorchester County residents, who will have to pay for new schools, police and fire protection, and other services the development will require. Watson Hill will also overwhelm Highway 61, Highway 165, and other roads in the vicinity with traffic congestion.
Dorchester County residents are already suffering from increased taxes and rising traffic congestion. It would be completely irresponsible to add to those burdens by subsidizing out-of-state owners in their efforts to develop Watson Hill. Please do not waste our public resources on this inappropriate project.
