This petition is to inform you of a case in deception and unethical (possibly illegal) practices by the Subaru of Schaumburg delearship in Schaumburg, IL.
2 co-workers and myself ended up going to this dealership as one of them was interested in possibly purchasing a 2004 Subaru Baja Turbo model. Upon getting there, we were told that they did not have a 5-speed in stock and that they would be able to get one in on a dealer trade so that my friend may test drive it. It was clearly stated over and over by him that he did not intend to purchase the vehicle until after he test drove it and approved. The salesman agreed, however, in order to get this vehicle in to test drive, they had him sign a temporary Bill of Sale document that showed he had interest in POSSIBLY purchasing this vehicle. This document could be voided upon test driving and his disappoval of the vehicle.
The vehicle came in to the dealership a few days later, and he went in for the test drive. Unfortunately, his feet were too big and he kept hitting the shroud around the clutch pedal so it made it very cumbersome to drive this vehicle and he let the salesman know that he was no longer interested in the vehicle.
Upon completion of the test drive, the salesman got out of the vehicle and instructed my friend to park the vehicle at a spot off the dealership lot. My friend unknowingly did and when he went in to turn in the keys the manager told him that he took delivery of the vehicle by taking it off the dealership lot. Safe to say my friend gave back the keys and got the heck out of there.
A few days went by and he received a payment book for the vehicle. He's currently speaking to his lawyer on what action to take as if the payment goes unpaid it will affect his credit. He is being forced to take delivery of a vehicle he does not want and never approved being purchased!
This dealership has also, on many occasions, delayed payoff payment on vehicles traded-in causing credit problems to their willing customers!
If you believe that this dealership has deceived and performed unethical and possibly illegal operations please sign this petition so that it may be brought forth to the correct people to rectify the situation
