I am signing this petition in support of Ken Stanton for the Graduate Student Teaching Excellence Award. I confirm that:
1. Mr. Stanton was a Graduate Teaching Assistant/Instructor for my course;
2. I interacted directly with Mr. Stanton, through our workshop, the class, or activities related to the course; and
3. I was an enrolled Virginia Tech student at the time of (1) and (2).
Further, I recommend Mr. Stanton because he has demonstrated excellent teaching, specifically:
1. Thorough knowledge of the subject matter;
2. Effective communication skills;
3. Enthusiasm for the subject;
4. Ability to motivate students to learn;
5. Effective organizational skills; and
6. Learner-centered pedagogy (teaching actively focused on promoting learning)
Finally, by signing this and encouraging that he be honored with this award, I strongly support a future career in teaching for Mr. Stanton.
