SHOULD WE ALL NOT FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION? For about more than 42 years, successive governments have failed to pass the Lokpal Bill which is required to reduce corruption by allowing common people like us a chance to file complaints of corruption against the judiciary, legislature and the executive. This means even the prime minister is not above board. It is important that we as citizens of Indian must participate in the drafting of the bill and must not leave it to the Center (Because presently it is full of corrupt people and they will not make any law against them), who has the vested interests in not clearing this Bill. As Mr. Hazare has rightly said to the government, "You are sevaks, the people are the maaliks." WHAT WILL LOKPAL BILL HAVE FOR YOU ? 1. Lokpal will have powers to initiate suo moto action or receive complaints of corruption from the general public. 2. Lokpal will be much more than an Advisory Body. It should be granted powers to initiate Prosecution against anyone found guilty. 3. Lokpal will have police powers. To say that it will be able to register FIRs. 4. Lokpal and anti corruption wing of CBI will be one Independent body. 5. The punishment should be minimum 5 years and maximum up-to life imprisonment. Can a fast-unto-death by a 73-year-old lead to a historic step towards abolishing corruption in government offices? We believe it can and it definitly CAN when we all will come to support by all means. Corruption in India has made global headlines more frequently than ever in the last year. Sh.
