SUPPORT ZIAD BAROUD FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE IN LEBANON

We the undersigned, concerned citizens of Lebanon, would like speak out in support of Mr. Ziad Baroud, Minister of Interior and Municipalities, in his plea to establish good governance in the ministry and in Lebanon. We believe that Ziad is setting one clear example of a transparent and efficient minister, which in our opinion is an asset than adds credibility and trust in the government.
On the particular issue of the internal conflict currently taking place in the ministry, we are worried about some news transpiring from the media that interferences from outside the ministry have been reported to support either of the commanders/chiefs involved in the conflict, against the will of the minister in charge; if this is the case, we demand that this ceases immediately and it be left to Minister Baroud to deal with the conflict within the boundaries and rules of the ministry. We have the confidence that Minister Baroud can resolve the matter with the utmost professionalism that we have seen and expect from him.
Concerned citizens, civil society groups, organizations from across the spectrum who share this view and believe in Minister Baroud's vision and good deeds in the government, you are invited to join in this effort and support your minister, by adding your names to the petition, and spreading the word and sending this e-mail petition around and beyond (e-mail, chat rooms, FaceBook, Twitter, and what have you today...).
Note: This petition was started in November 2009 by a group of individuals who do not know Ziad personally but do identify with his integrity and honesty; nor is the minister aware in any way that a petition has been initiated in his support.
