We, the undersigned, request that the Department for Education and Skills review and reverse their decision to suspend the GovernorNet discussion board for the duration of the election campaign.
We believe this action was badly conceived and executed, and was taken on foot of a poor interpretation of the Cabinet Office guidelines covering the election period.
The boards in question were, before their closure, a forum where UNPAID school governors could help each other to govern their schools effectively. Schools do not suddenly lack a need for good governance because an election has been called.
