On May 11, 2004, Syracuse University announced a new logo, color scheme and nickname for its athletic teams. We, the undersigned, petition the athletic department and administration of Syracuse University to retain the nicknames Orangemen and Orangewomen for its 21 athletic teams.
Syracuse Universitys athletic teams have enjoyed success in multiple sports, which has led to the enviable position of possessing a truly unique and recognizable brand or nickname (Orangemen and Orangewomen).
We are signing this petition because we, the students, alumni and fans of Syracuse University athletics strongly identify with the nicknames Orangemen and Orangewomen and believe that any change to these nicknames- even to Orange would cause irreparable harm to our allegiance, loyalty, passion and support for Syracuse University and its athletic teams.

Orange is fine as the school color, not as the nickname - if these are the lame decisions the parents, alumni and students pay you to make - then seriously consider how much better the money could be spent towards helping the students, improving facilitie
