I, a student of E Russel Hicks Middle School in Washington County, Maryland, am writing this petition to the Washington County Board of Education so that Courtney Beard may be relieved of his job as a sixth grade teacher, due to his recent charges of animal cruelty. He was accused of lacing animal fat with antifreeze and feeding it to his neighbors dogs, one of which died. I feel that a man like this is a bad influence on his students, who are all at very impressionable ages. These students should be taught to treat animals with the same respect that they would treat a human, and clearly this man is not capable of this. In addition, anyone with charges like that should not be teaching at all.
