Teaching Hope

The student body lead Teaching Hope Initiative would like to propose a Teaching Hope event centered around the education of the Hope community on the topic of racial issues.

To highlight the importance of this topic to the Hope community we propose not having class on Wednesday Feb 22nd and instead having students report to a series of seminars.

The seminars will consist of three time slots with three to four different seminar options during each time slot; each seminar relating a specific field of study to the issue of racism.

These seminars will be lead by interested faculty and Hope community members, in this way we are demonstrating our ownership of this topic.

Please help support this effort by agreeing to forgo normally scheduled class for one day as a sign of the campus commitment to racial issues and a sign of unity.

We also ask that those faculty or Hope community members interested in leading a seminar relating to their disipline contact the committee as soon as possible.
