The "Dark Star" special edition DVD

While the initial release is essentially "featureless", the more pressing concern resides in the video and audio quality of the DVD which, as *many* DVD review sites have noted, is extremely poor.
We feel that a proper restoration be done with the film in regards to *both* the video and audio presentation.
"Dark Star" has historical cinematic significance as it was the first film that director John Carpenter and writer Dan O'Bannon made. Both Carpenter and O'Bannon have gone on to great success in their careers, creating legendary films ("Halloween" and "Alien" respectively) but none of that would have happened had "Dark Star" not been made.
We feel that "Dark Star" should be considered for a "special edition" DVD with restored picture and sound (a drastic improvement over the initial DVD release is a necessity) and extra features such as an audio commentary (O'Bannon has expressed that he'd love to do one) and perhaps a documentary on the making of the movie along with both cuts of the film.
In other words, to be treated as the career making classic it truly is.
