THE FAT BOYS ARE BACK!
In the 80s, The FAT BOYS were one of the biggest names in the rap / hip-hop community. With numerous hits to their credit, they were unstoppable!
Hits like 1985's "The Fat Boys Are Back" and 1987's "Wipeout" made the FAT BOYS a household name. They have toured with some of the biggest names of their time (RUN DMC, LL COOL J, WHODINI, etc).
Like RUN DMC and Aerosmith ("Walk This Way"), THE FAT BOYS have also teamed with some iconic artists such as The Beach Boys ("Wipeout") and Chubby Checker ("The Twist"). They made it more than obvious with these "HITS" that in the world of music, anything was possible. Breaking barriors and collaborating with artists outside their genre was very ground breaking and also very accepted. Another reason why THE FAT BOYS are considered Rap Royalty and Pioneers to Hip-Hop Culture.
Being overweight with comedy styles were a recipe for success. Their novelty hit "Are You Reddy for Freddy" (A take on "Nightmare on Elm Street") was a sample of how popular they have become. The song even featured guest vocals by Freddy Krueger who was also featured in the music video.
In 1995, The Hip-Hop World lost an icon. The Human Beat Box.."BUFF LOVE". He was diagnosed with lymphedema, a rare crippling disease. At age 28, he died from cardiac arrest. R.I.P.
Its been about 2 decades since THE FAT BOYS were on top of the charts and on top of their game. Today, The FAT BOYS are back. They are auditioning for a new 3rd member to join PRINCE MARKIE DEE and KOOL ROCK (without the SKI)to become an official member of the FAT BOYS.
We are wanting to take this concept of seeking a new member for the FAT BOYS to "Reality" TV. Possibly landing a REALITY SHOW to introduce the FAT BOYS to a younger generation while at the same time seeking a new member for the group. They can watch and learn as the old school ways are shown and taught to the new school kids of today. Hip-Hop Education.
Yes, there are History books that deal with the world affairs. But when it comes to History in Music, Visual is just as important as the audio. This is why we would like to bring THE FAT BOYS back into the Mainstream. Not only as a mission to find a new member, but also as a course in Rap History... With THE FAT BOYS
