The Government should vocally oppose, and legally block the take over of BSkyB by Rupert Murdoch's New Corporation

In light of the recent hacking scandals, and increasing revelations of the behaviour of News Corporation newspapers, the government owes it to the people of the UK to vocally oppose the further media domination of News Corporation in our country.
In particular, the government should stop hiding behind due process and speak on behalf of the people by openly opposing the proposed takeover of BSkyB by News Corporation.
There can be no way a Minister or Prime Minister can claim to be serving the people of this country and at the same time allow Rupert Murdoch to gain further dominance of the media in light of public anger at the actions of his staff.
If we gain 500 signatures and submit this petition to Downing Street, the Prime Ministers' office has to respond to it. If we gain 100,000 signatures, the petition will go before parliament.
