The markedly negative bias representation of the actions of the United States Armed Forces by the mainstream media

We find that when an American Serviceman or any American for that matter is caught in wrong doing it is plastered all over the news relentlessly. However, we find that the great good and many acts of heroism and compassion displayed daily by American Servicemen and other Americans throughout this world finds little media coverage. Any positive media coverage provided is minimal at best.
The media is responsible for our portrayal as the Ugly Americans. No wonder we are treated with such disdain in many parts of the world.
We, the undersigned, are Americans who have come to recognize that the media has chosen to report in a manner that emphasizes the negative behavior of a minority of soldiers and overlook the selfless acts of the majority. We understand and support the need to cover ALL the News, however we feel that the media has chosen to raise the awareness of only what has been our short comings, and ignore the acts of self-sacrifice and charity that so many of our soldiers have displayed under the most difficult of conditions.
As the Silent Majority we have decided to use our TV remote controls to put an end to this slanted media coverage. Beginning on Memorial Day, May 31, 2005, we will cease turning on any television news station that is not portraying the United States Armed Forces in a better light. We expect you to represent our soldiers behavior, both good and bad, with equal coverage. We believe that when advertisers see the ratings fall for these news outlets the media will be forced to re-evaluate the manner in which they report the news. It is time for fair and unbiased journalism to be returned to the airwaves.
