The Nomination of Lauren Graham of 'Gilmore Girls' for a 2005 Outstanding Comedy Series Actress Emmy Award

We respectfully ask the voting membership of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to nominate Lauren Graham of 'Gilmore Girls' for a 2005 Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. It is the opinion of the undersigned that she has put forth the best work of her career in this, the show's fifth season.
There is a perception, rightly or wrongly, that the Emmys have become nothing more than a rubber-stamp venture to honor the same old same-olds in drama and comedy series major categories year after year after year. This is a golden opportunity to put that to rest. Whether based on an individual episode or a season's body of work, Lauren Graham, at the very least has earned herself, in the eyes of the petition's creator and the undersigned, the *opportunity* to contend for the TV industry's holy grail in September.
We ask you, the members of ATAS, to reward her quality and hard work with an Emmy nomination. And while you're at it, shower the show with a lot more of the same. There is quality on 'Gilmore Girls' no matter where you look for it, and it is long overdue for the show as a whole to be recognized by the television industry, irregardless of what network it is on.
A proviso: Neither Ms. Graham, nor the cast and crew of 'Gilmore', nor The WB or its employees had anything to do with the creation of this petition. (but they are more than welcome to close ranks behind it). This was the idea of one person who hopes that when the nominations come out this summer, the ATAS will pull a Spike Lee and Do The Right Thing. It's long past time for Lauren Graham to be introduced to a lady called Emmy.
