The Order of the Phoenix Release Date

We, the undersigned, feel that the release date of the movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in Australia of September 6th, 2007 is both ridiculous and unjustifiable, considering the movie is to be released on July the 13th in most other areas around the world, including the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

We understand a small delay on the movie, as have been present in previous movies; the Goblet of Fire was released 12 days after the UK and US in Australia. However, such an absurd amount of time is unprecedented, and we demand a change.

Not only do we feel that this release date is unfair, we think that it would be much more profitable and economic for Warner Brothers to pull back the date.
Australian children experience school breaks from July 7 to July 26, and then from September 29 to October 18. The main target audience of the Harry Potter films being children still in school, it would be unwise for Warner Brothers to keep the September 6th release date in Australia. It would collide with schooling, whereas the July 13th release date, or, in fact, any time 2 weeks subsequent, would still be a time during Australian childrens school break.
Today, piracy is a most prevalent thing in our society. When there is 2 months between the release of a movie between to places, people will feel the urge to watch a pirated version of the movie. It is all to easy for any child today to get their hands on an illegal copy of a movie, and this will surely be the case on a huge scale with this release date, which will certainly injure success of the movie in Australia immensely.

We, the undersigned, suggest that the movie be released in Australia some time between July the 13th and July 26th, so to have a reasonable time between the releases. We are certain this is possible, judging by the releases of the past 4 movies, and feel that this reduction will not only satisfy Australian fans but aid sales of the movie for Warner Brothers benefit.

Our only hope is that someone from Warner Brothers will actually read this and seriously rethink the appalling date set for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenixs release in Australia.
