The Truth about Breast Cancer

We, the undersigned breast cancer survivors (and their supporters), hereby register our strong objection to your suggestion that women who have abortions are at higher risk for breast cancer later in life.
You continue to perpetuate this self-serving myth that is not only untrue and gives women false information, but also damages our reputations as wives, as mothers and as daughters.
The American Cancer Society, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American College of Surgeons have unequivocally stated that there is no evidence linking breast cancer and abortion. Indeed, the International Journal of Cancer recently completed a study disproving this theory.

Therefore we RESOLVE the following:

*** WE have suffered enough, having lived with this awful disease;
*** WE refuse to become a victim of anyone who, either though ignorance or willful misrepresentation, continues to perpetuate this falsehood;
*** WE believe such self-serving statements illustrate the length to which some extreme radicals will go in their attempt to motivate their political base;
*** THEREFORE, WE are united in our call for Bill Sali and all other persons and organizations who perpetuate this lie to start telling the truth.
