On March 4th 2001, I asked the Honorable Daniel J.Burke, Illinois State Representative of the 23rd District if he would support us in getting A Native American Holiday passed in the state of Illinois, so that we may Honor our Elders and Braves who fought right along side of the Union and Confederate Armies in the Civil War, that lasted from the year 1860 thru 1865, a Day of Recognition for all American Indians, he said that he would be happy to do this as he felt it was long overdue.

I told Dan last year while searching the internet, I came upon this Petition for a National Native American Holiday, it was created by Mike Graham, I signed in at 141, well it grew upto 13,582 signatures, and no one stepped forward to offer help in making our dream come true, This is when I approached Dan Burke, he told me he saw no problem in getting our Day passed thru the Illinois House of Representatives, he would need a copy of the Signatures, along with a Resolution of my own explaining why I felt that the Native Americans deserved a Holiday.

It was on March 5th that Dan went to our State Capitol in Springfield Illinois taking with him the papers that he needed, the following day I received a telephone call from Dan's office asking me if I would come the Capitol Building in Springfield to witness the Signing of the Resolution #196, I told them that I would go to the White House in Washington to witness the Signing if need be, the day of the Signing was set for May 2nd 2001.

My wife Mary Helen and I went to Springfield on May 2nd to the Government Committee Room and got The Resolution #196 voted on and approved, then on May 22nd Dan Burke took it to the Floor of the House of Representatives where all 118 Representatives voted on and it was adopted, Now we are asking for your Support in getting it recognized Nation Wide, by Signing your Name and telling our Readers why you feel the Native Americans deserve this Day of Respect, you will be letting our Representatives from every State know that we are United, and we will thank you from the bottom of our Hearts.
