During the planning process Dans original idea was that she plays a "normal" girl who, in a twist of fate, gets cast to star in her favorite TV show. Dan named the show "Starstruck". He wrote pilot (and turned in to Nickelodeon) was about Carly, a regular girl who gets cast to star in her favorite TV show. At the last minute Dan decided that it would be MUCH COOLER for Carly to create HER OWN show. A show that she could run her own way and do what ever she wants to do. So in December 2006 Dan throw out his Starstruck script and wrote a new pilot and called the show iCarly. The show went into production in January 2007.
When Carly and her sassy best bud Sam act funny at a school talent show audition, tech-savvy Freddie tapes it and posts it online without telling them. Upon seeing the girls' strong chemistry and banter, the online audience clamors for more and the iCarly webcast is born. While grappling with typical issues of adolescence, Carly, Sam, and Freddie find they've also become online celebrities as their show, which features talent contests, recipes, problem-solving, and random dancing, garners international accolades.
Carly lives in Seattle, Washington with her twenty-six year old brother/guardian Spencer and produces the show in a makeshift third-floor studio loft in his apartment. Although no mention is made about the location of their mother, Carly and Spencer's father is a U.S. Air Force officer ("Col. Steven Shay"), temporarily stationed on a submarine, who is often mentioned but has never actually been seen on the show.
The show premiered on September 8, 2007 and ever since it became an insane hit since the very first episode of the show. Each episode brings in a great number of viewers. The show brings in at least 14 million viewers. The hit episodes are mostly specials and TV movies. All the episodes do well in some way. The show keeps getting more popular, not only in America, but in many other countries, too.
With the production codes and airing season there has been some confusion. Let me explain.
Nickelodeon originally ordered 45 episodes for iCarlys second season but after all 45 episodes were shot for its season. Nick decided to split the season in half for a third season. There were going to be 25 episodes for season 2 and 20 episodes for season 3. Normally production codes for a third season for any TV show would start with a 3 but instead they started it with a 2 for its third season. After the third season was almost done airing Nick ordered 26 more episodes for the show . When the next season went into production all of the production codes started with a 3 when they are in the fourth airing season at this time. Well in September Dan stopped production on iCarly so he could start working on the next season of his new show Victorious. Dan only produced 13 episodes out of the 26 episodes ordered. iCarly isn't on its fourth season yet, production wise. But in airing order, it is on its fourth season. Miranda tweeted recently that they finished filming season 3. So how many season iCarly has at this time is unknown. Well it might change. Now depending how the other sites are determining the next 13 episodes that are going to be produced is going to tell us what season we are going to be in next. If Dan starts the production codes with 4?? and the other sites count it as season 4 we are in good shape and will be back on track with the production and airing seasons with the show. if not it will be a little confusing but it should be fine. So by next year we might be in its fifth airing season and fourth production season.
Now with the actors getting older and Nathan and Miranda going to college soon. Also Jennette only has one more year of high school or so. Fans are wondering if this is going to be the last of iCarly after the next batch of the 26 episodes are produced. The show is going strong and dont want to see this show go. Fans main concern is, most of Nicks live-action programs have lasted only about 4 seasons, with Drake & Josh and Zoey 101 Nicks other popular shows ending after there fourth season. Fans really want to see this show keep going for at least 2-3 more years.
This petition is to convince the iCarly cast to stay on with the show as long as they can, while doing the other things they want to do. Even if this means seeing only 13 episodes per season.
Also this petition is to have the writers have the iCarly gang go to the built-a-bra store and other places they mention. Also have Drake and Josh guest star in one episode of the show. To have Dan create a crossover with more of his shows like Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, Big time Rush and other Nickelodeon shows and even crossovers with show from the Disney Channel. Shows like Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Suite life on Deck, Wizards of Waverly Place, and other Disney shows.
