Trade Unions Against the Cuts in NI

We, the undersigned urge the NI Executive to oppose the devastating cuts proposed by the UK Coalition Government.

We further urge our elected representatives to publicly show their support for the campaign against the cuts launched by the trade union movement and co-ordinated by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.

If implemented, these cuts will

See the loss of between 35,000 and 50,000 jobs across Northern Ireland.

Condemn a lost generation to long-term unemployment and the brain drain.

Devastate the private sector in Northern Ireland through the loss of procurement from public to private sector worth in the region of 3bn per annum.

Mean a 40\% cut in investment between 2010-2014 sounding the death knell for the construction sector and its supply chain.

Mean reductions in welfare benefits for the most marginalised in our society.

Mean a reduction in health, education and other services for all.
