This is a petition to ask you, the public of Ireland, to stand up once and for all for the nurses, pardon me, the superheroes of our nation!

Please sign this petition to support them and not allow a 20% pay cut in their wages under the new graduate scheme

Their services are priceless and they are the backbone of every single hospital in this country. They are the pillars that hold up the foundations of our health service.

Think about it: No matter what room you go into in a hospital, there will always be a nurse behind every door either assisting, caring, cleaning, consoling, greeting, helping, preparing, scrubbing, washing,, ,, . The list is endless.

The Irish Government have decided to 'throw out a scheme' in which will give 1000 jobs but will consist of cutting newly-graduated nurses wages by 20%.

It is a two year contract with a salary of €21,769. This is outrageous and we as a nation, need to stand tall and strong and not allow our nurses to be backed into a corner, essentially 'bullying' them into taking these 'jobs'.

The Government will listen, they have to, nurses are the backbone of this country and the sooner We, as a nation, show a bit of 'backbone', the Government will listen!

And I hope all members of the public support this and not just nurses because I'm sure if you think back to when a loved one was in hospital, who were the people at the stations, bringing in food, pillows, making beds, changing bed pans, greeting family members, comforting family members at a time when they were inconsolable?! Not overpaid doctors but underpaid (Mostly Training/newly qualified) nurse slaves!!

WE NEED TO STOP THIS OUTRAGEOUS ACT OF SELFISHNESS BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT CARE!!!

We are a Republic and so, we have a voice, we can be heard, we should stand up, THEY HAVE TO LISTEN!!!

Please, this is not aimed at only nurses. This has exceeded the responsibility of the nurses, and now the power lies invested in us! 'The People of Ireland'.

Last year alone, there was 2,059 verification requests made to An Bord Altranais by nurses who had no other choice but to leave this country in search of work in places such as Canada and Australia, which may I add, pay their nurses a starting salary of €38,200 and €43,000 respectively!

Stop this madness, support this petition, sign your name and send it on to your colleagues, friends, family. Share it on Facebook.

Ní neart go cur le chéile- There is no strength without unity.

Ireland, let us unite, and allow our nurses to be paid fairly from placement wages through to graduate salaries!
