UConn's Revised Meal Plan Still Unacceptable

In a clear attempt to reduce public outcry (when describing its second attempt at a new meal plan), DDS failed to mention that flex passes: 1) cannot be used to purchase pre-packed snacks; 2) cannot be used to purchase bottle beverages; and 3) are good for less than two sides at some grab-and-gos, which cannot, in good conscience, be called a meal.
This is completely unacceptable. Although the students understand that the extensive use of Meal Equivalency meals to purchase pre-packaged items at W.E.B.B. Site placed a financial burden on DDS, and will even concede that this amounted to an abuse of the previous meal plan, students should still be able to purchase some pre-packaged items with a flex pass. With a minimum price of $1,625, these cost of the three meal plans far outweigh the benefits to students, and certainly need to be changed.
Accordingly, we respectfully ask that the following reasonable requests be fulfilled:
1) Every grab-and-go will provide at least one main item (e.g. sandwich, wrap, etc), two sides and a drink as a meal for each use of a flex pass
2) Whenever a flex pass is used, students are able to obtain either (A) one pre-packaged side or (B) a bottled drink as a part of the meal detailed in part 1)
3) No largest-sized fountain drink is ever less than 16oz, at any grab-and-go, under any circumstances
